SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – Sioux Falls City Councilors were expecting to take another run at approving a conditional use permit for the proposed location of a new Smithfield Foods plant near Crooks…following a judge’s ruling to overturn their first permit.
City Council members say they were surprised by the ruling, but aren’t able to say much more than that.
Council Chair Rich Merkouris said at a news conference yesterday they’re still receiving information from the City Attorney on the ruling.
At the same time, Smithfield officials say they’ll reapply for the permit.
