OGLALA, S.D. (KELO.com) – Pine Ridge Indian Reservation has won a national award for its efforts to train people for good-paying jobs in the sustainable energy workforce.

The Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center was launched in 2016 and has trained over 11-hundred graduates.

Last month, it won a National Electrical Innovation Award in New York City.

Co-founder John Red Cloud says he hopes to replicate the program with a tribe in Oregon.
