SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakota’s two largest airports are in the midst of expansion projects to make room for more passengers.
There may be a problem that goes beyond terminal space.
Boeing Airlines estimates the airline industry will need an additional 674-thousand pilots by the year 2045…and that’s far beyond current capacity to train them.
Former Pilot Patrick Arnzen, CEO of Thrust Flight says that will be especially hard on regional airports like Sioux Falls.
Shortages of ground crews, mechanics and other specialties are also forseen.
The end result…Arnzen says you can expect more delays and cancellations ahead.
