PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) – State officials are readjusting changes to the Child Care Assistance program after complaints from parents.
The Department of Social Services announced changes to its payment model that would have impacted families by several hundred dollars and some families said it would be more cost effective to quit their jobs than to pay for the child care costs.
The issue was taken up by state Rep. Brian Mulder who advocated for a readjustment.
He said the newest changes put families in a spot where they can feel confident in being able to afford child care needs.
