PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Attorney General Marty Jackley expects South Dakota’s only death row inmate will be executed later this year. Briley Piper lost an appeal of his death sentence Monday. He pleaded guilty to the murder and waived his right to a jury, but that was vacated by the state Supreme Court. He was then resentenced to death by a jury.
